Rehoming Procedures
If you see a dog you are interested in on our Website, these are the steps to take:
| 1. | Contact us by phone or e-mail, if we cant take your call then please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. E-mails are generally replied to on the same evening so please be patient. You need to let us know the dog that you are interested in and your circumstances i.e. children, pets, working hours, where you live and your contact details. Please can we ask that you are honest about your circumstances, as we need to make sure we place the right dog with the right family (recently people have being forgetting they have cats and frequently visiting small children). |
| 2. | We will arrange for you to meet the dog, to see what you think of them. If you have another dog or young children we would insist they meet the dog as well. |
| 3. | We like to do a home check but if distance or time is an issue, we will except a reference from your vet or another rescue centre. |
| 4. | If you like the dog we will then start a weeks home trial, this is where you can have the dog for a week to see if the dog is right for you and your family. You will fill out an adoption form and we now ask for the Adoption Fee to be given up front either by cash or post dated cheque for a weeks time. Unfortunately this is because we used to do the fee at the end of the trial but so many people owe us money now and have not forwarded on the donation, these owed fees would clear our kennel and vet bills. We cannot continue save more dogs lives without these crucial funds. If for any reason the dog comes back while on home trial we will return the donation. If the dog does not turn out to be the one for you all we insist is that the dog is taken back to its foster home or to the private boarding kennels we use. |
| 5. | In the middle of your trial we will try and contact you to make sure there are no issues and everybody is happy. If there are any problems then please feel free to contact us for help. |
| 6. | After the weeks home trial we will then we will post out any vaccination cards or paperwork we have to do with this dog - we ask that you please return the ID tag as it costs us a fortune to replace |
| Puppies The only time we dont offer a home trial is to a dog under 24 weeks, as a puppy is a puppy and is going to need basic training and socialisation, they will poo and wee in your house and will probably chew things left around that you may not want them to. Therefore we really do ask if you do enquire about a puppy you must be prepared for all the above, if you have concerns and do not have the time to spend with housetraining and general training, that you consider an older dog. All dogs will need some kind of training to fit in with your lifestyles and adapt to you routine. |
